Getting Started with SDM

This guide will help you set up your School Data Manager account and understand the basic concepts.

Account Setup

First Login

1. Click the sign-in link in your invitation email
2. Sign in with Apple ID or use the magic link option
3. Complete any required two-factor authentication setup

Interface Overview

After logging in, you'll see the main dashboard with:

• Imports - View and manage your data flows
• Settings - Configure your account and organization
• ASM Connection - Set up your Apple School Manager SFTP credentials

Key Concepts

Flows

A flow is a data pipeline that:

1. Sources data from OneRoster API, CSV files, or other formats
2. Transforms the data (optional) - consolidate classes, make corrections
3. Publishes to Apple School Manager

Workspaces

A workspace contains your SFTP credentials for Apple School Manager. You can:

• Create multiple workspaces for different ASM instances
• Share workspaces with partners or schools

Organizations

Your organization is either a:

• School - Imports and publishes own data
• Partner - Manages multiple schools, shares workspaces
